How the Knights Program Can Positively Impact Male Employees

As has been stated numerous times in numerous ways, a company’s most important asset is its people. The present occupational world insists that those companies who wish to survive need focused employees who think for themselves, demonstrate self-initiative, take responsibility for choices made and participate willingly in change. The need to relate well to peers, form productive teams, and compete in the area of customer service demands that each employee do their best on a daily basis. They need to be able to adjust to the various ups and downs of daily work existence and maintain, at the same time, a positive attitude. To put it succinctly, they must be self-aware, self-controlled, self-disciplined, and self-motivated.

Regrettably, though, our culture has made this an uphill battle. As a result, people – and particularly males – in our present world really have difficulty describing themselves and understanding the various elements that make up who they are. The lack of men as role models has increased the aimlessness of the average male and thus: What life demands from a male, he is becoming less able to meet. The prisons are filled with males, workplace harassment is an increasing issue, and companies are paying for the male apathy described above.

The Knights of the 21st Century is a development program that helps the average male understand what makes up his self and what factors should be considered in the decisions that he makes. It helps the male in the process of becoming a man, understanding his history, discovering his strengths, exploring his motivations, and developing a plan for his future. Using the metaphor of a knight, the male is given language that helps him mobilize his resources and overcome some of the negative environmental influences that have previously limited him.

As manhood develops, he understands the importance of ethical considerations, treats women respectfully, controls his aggression, contributes his best efforts, and works as part of the team. He learns to embrace what the manly role in his environment should be through demonstrating leadership and positively influencing those around him, learning to become the man that today’s employer desires. Nobility of a man’s character is something to be utilized on a daily basis. Crisis management is viewed not solely negatively but as an opportunity for growth. Thusly, employers will do well should their male employees participate in such a positively inspirational and personal development opportunity.
